How do you find a newspaper by country and build a reading list?

Instead of searching for a newspaper title every time, select a country and then save the source you need. We will apply this to "الراية" within the Qatar group, and show how to expand your reading list and reach news on their publishers' sites.

Practical example

From a list of countries to a single saved source

Before

513 entries in the general directory at the time of example setup.

After

Selecting "Qatar" showed 19 entries, and searching for "الراية" showed one card that was added to Favorites.

The comparison describes a real interaction in the i2Arabic guide on 30 October 2026. The selection is kept after reloading. The results describe the local guide and do not constitute verification of the availability of external site articles.

1. Select Qatar from the country list

Open the newspaper directory, then search for "Qatar" in the "Browse by Country" section. A small flag appears next to the name to make it easier to identify the country; click the name to filter the cards.

When preparing the example, the general list included 513 entries, and the Qatar group showed 19 entries. These numbers may change when the directory is updated.

The collections include various sources, including newspapers, news sites, sports, and international outlets. Selecting Qatar here defines a collection within the guide and does not prove that every source in it is a printed Qatari newspaper.

2. Search for الراية within the collection

Type "الراية" in the "Search for a newspaper..." field. Results narrow down to the "الراية" card in the example. You can also search by its English name Raya.

Check the card name before opening or saving it. The search relates to the registered source, not to an article or news headline inside its site.

If you do not find the source you want, clear the search to review the group names, or select «All countries» then try part of the name. Keeping a different country selected may hide a result present in the general directory.

3. Star the source

Press the star on the "الراية" card to add it to favorites. You do not need to create an account or subscribe to the i2Arabic service.

Press "Favorites" next to the search field. In this example, الراية appears alone because it is the entry we saved that matches the current country and search.

Remember that the subscription a newspaper site might request to read its content is independent of saving its link here. The star saves a shortcut in the browser and does not change the publisher's reading permissions.

4. Open the newspaper website and read at the source

Press "Visit website" to open the newspaper address registered in a new tab. The directory tab remains open so you can return to other sources.

On the publisher's site, choose the desired section or news item and check the publication date. If you want to search for a specific topic, use the search tools available there.

It was tested in the example that the card carries an external link and opens in a new tab; it is not assumed that all site content is available for free or that the external address will always remain fixed.

5. Expand the reading list then view it in full

Turn off the «Favorites» filter and clear the search, then select another country and save an additional source. You can thus build a personal list that includes more than one perspective or region.

When you want to see the full list, select "All Countries", leave the search field empty, then enable "Favorites". Keeping Qatar selected displays your choices matching this group only.

الراية remained saved after reloading the page in the experiment. This data stays in the browser itself, so re-save your selections on another device, and keep an independent bookmark for important sources if you regularly delete site data.

FAQ

Is every entry in the directory a printed newspaper?

No. The guide includes newspapers, news and sports sites, and other sources; use the source name and its site to know its nature.

Does the flag determine site ownership?

The flag indicates the country group in the browsing interface. It does not represent proof of site ownership or the location of issuance for every source within the group.

Does saving الراية make its paid content available?

No. The star saves a local link, and the access and subscription terms of the publisher remain as they are.

Why have some of my selections disappeared from the favorites view?

The country or active search might be hiding them. Select "All Countries" and clear the search. If site data is deleted or the browser is changed, you may need to save them again.
