Cookies and similar storage
Cookies are small values stored by your browser and sent with relevant site requests. Local storage, session storage, and IndexedDB also keep data on your device, but they work differently than cookies. We describe them together here so you can understand the full picture.
i2Arabic does not require login. Drafts, preferences, and export work in the browser, and smart mode uses requests to a dictionary service to get suggestions for the current word. Clearing site storage does not delete files you have downloaded to your device.
Storage used by the site
These are the local storage mechanisms used on the site. Storage is linked to the browser profile and device you are using, and does not represent a cloud account or backup.
| Storage item | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance preference | Remembers the light, dark, or system appearance. | Until you change the selection or clear browser data for this site. |
| Text style preferences | Remembers the font, size, color, formatting, and text direction on this device. | Until it is replaced or removed by the relevant feature, cleared from your browser, or removed by the browser. |
| Browser draft | Saves the editor text locally for recovery. The draft content can include anything you type. It is not sent to a server draft account. | Until it is replaced or removed by the relevant feature, cleared from your browser, or removed by the browser. |
| Draft Tab | Maintains an individual tab draft separate from other open tabs. | For the tab session; browser session restoration can affect its lifespan. |
| Keyboard mode | Remembers the input method and keyboard settings in local storage and tab storage. | Until the setting is changed or site data is cleared; tab storage ends according to the browser session and its restoration. |
| Favorites of channels and newspapers | Saves the channels and newspapers you choose to add to favorites in this browser, without an account or synchronization between devices. | Until the item is removed from favorites or site data is cleared in the browser. |
External services and cookies
Statcounter and Yandex Metrica provide page and usage analytics on the live site. Google AdSense provides automatic and placed ads. These integrations do not load in local previews.
These parties may set cookies or read similar storage, and receive technical information such as IP address, browser and device information, pages, and usage for analytics and ad serving and measurement purposes. Their privacy practices apply. Local editing, copying, and exporting do not require advertising cookies.
When opening an external search, you move to the selected service with the text as a query. Channels and newspapers open their sites directly, and these sites may use their own cookies or storage. This differs from sending the current word to a dictionary service while using the smart mode.
Manage your options
If browser storage is blocked or unavailable, favorites or draft recovery may not work. You can still write and use the local copy and export controls. Save important work separately.
- Use your browser settings to view, block, or delete cookies and clear this site's data, including local storage and session storage. Options are usually specific to that browser and device.
- Change the light, dark, or system preference using the appearance control in the site header. Clearing site data also removes stored preferences and drafts.
- Export important text before clearing data. Other open tabs might still retain their editor content, and clearing the editor is not a secure wipe tool.
